That is a lot to admit, but that is also a big part of the battle. It?s a really big step but don?t stop here. This is a big obstacle to conquer don?t be afraid to ask for help. Talk to family and friends. It is important to have that support. I think what a person does about the mistakes he or she makes is more important than the mistake itself, maybe use those as reasons to get better. AA does not work for everyone. There are a number of people that benefit from it, but talk to a professional and see what might work for you personally. I personally found it really hard to ask for help when I was going through a rough time, but life can be a lot easier when you do. I hope this helps you some and good luck. It is a rough road to go down but it can be done.

my suggestion, you got to admit yourself right now to a rehab hospital. they'll take care of you there make sure health wise you are ok while you detox and most of all you won't drink while you're there. you'll have to do some aa/na there but not for ever. i know two people who both beat their addiction one for herion one for alcohol one needed aa one didn't they are both sobber 10 years and 3 years and are both doing great. they both started by checking into a rehab hospital. so again my suggustion do it right now.

New here so here it is. On sunday the 16th after a great deal of denial I had to come to the unhappy admission I am an alcoholic. In the past 90 days I have beaten my brother who I would take a bullet for beyond recognition, trip to detox, dui arrest, wrecked another car, thrown out of the horseshoe casino and treated the best friend I have had in years and years in a very unflattering fashion. I stand here a fellow devotee of Social D. and humbly ask for any suggestions or ideas on how I mught attack this monster I must now face. I tried AA a while back and left angry and confrontational. I know some of you have been the same so please help out a beat up sickboy standing at rock bottom. Thanx...

I felt like I had to register just to weigh in on this. I am an alcoholic and it took me years of crime and fucking everyone over to come to grips with the fact that my powerlessness over alcohol (and all the other shit) was what was making my life so unmanageable. There's help out there if you know you've had enough. Two years ago I went to detox homeless to get the law off of my ass and today I have a home, a car, a good job; I even got me a little wife. It can be really hard to swallow your pride and ask for help, but we can't do this alone. Just don't drink today- tomorrow's a lifetime away.

I will always be a compulsive gambler. I will always be an addict. however its been almost a year since I gambled last. I have stayed away from the card tables pretty well lately, but I cant seem to keep my wallet tucked away when I see a guitar i like. Well, i guess buying something i like is better than pissing it away on a straight draw. Im now addicted to my band.

Painwillbemymotivation said it best.....take it one day at a time brother. when you wake up in the morning committ yourself to not drinking today. If you can do this, then your road to recovery will be a little smoother. Donk drink today...tomorrow is a long ways away.
